EOLA-AMITY HILLS AVA
FARMED IN THE MOST UNCONVENTIONAL WAY POSSIBLE
Kevin and Carla Chambers have been serving the Oregon wine industry since 1980. Their first vineyard was Resonance in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA where they pioneered Biodynamic practices in Oregon. From 1997-2014, they owned and operated Results Partners, Oregon’s largest vineyard management firm, and Oregon Vineyard Supply, which provided products and services to vineyard operators throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 2013, they sold Resonance to the famed Maison Louis Jadot of Burgundy, and purchased the property that has become Koosah Farm.
Koosah Farm sits atop the windswept crest of the Eola-Amity Hills at 700-1100 feet. The steeply-sloped, profoundly-rocky 82.5 acre site consists of 44 acres of vineyard, 6 acres of orchard with the remaining acres in oak savannah pasture. Here the family employs permaculture techniques involving hundreds of species of flowering and fruiting trees, shrubs and vines. This plant diversity encourages a healthy microbiome to naturally reduce disease and insect pressures. Additionally, Kevin has again pioneered new farming practices through the use of compost-teas brewed on the farm to aid in building soil fertility, microbial diversity and prevent disease.
In 2019, Walter Scott began sourcing three mixed-clone blocks, including 1.4 acres of Pinot noir and 3.3 acres of Chardonnay.
