GROWERS | BETHEL HEIGHTS VINEYARD
EOLA-AMITY HILLS AVA
DRY FARMED, ORGANIC
Planted in 1999 by the Casteel family, Justice Vineyard is an extension of their pioneering work at Bethel Heights. This 40-acre site was thoughtfully designed using the best viticultural knowledge of its time, incorporating diverse clonal selections, carefully chosen rootstocks, and precise vine spacing and trellising. The vineyard is planted on a mix of volcanic clay and ancient marine sediment, with Chardonnay blocks established in 2000 to Dijon 76 and 95 clones. Walter Scott has sourced both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from this historic site, sharing the Chardonnay block with Bethel Heights—each winery taking every other row to fully capture the vineyard’s character.
Justice Vineyard sits on a break in the hills known as Holmes Gap, where the Van Duzer winds funnel eastward, creating a dynamic cooling effect. This exposure allows fruit to ripen gradually, developing layered complexity while preserving vibrant acidity. The combination of well-drained soils and steady airflow produces Pinot Noir with depth and structure and Chardonnay with precision and intensity. Justice has long exemplified the power and elegance of the Eola-Amity Hills.
